What is Impedance Audiometry?
Impedance audiometry assesses the

●Stapedial Reflex Testing: Disorders

How is the Test Performed?
The procedure takes just 10 minutes.
First, you must tilt your ear, and the doctor checks for wax build-up or
indications of infection; then, a small instrument is placed in the canal. It
alters the pressure within the ear and measures the reflex of the tympanic membrane
and middle ear structures.
Tympanogram Types:
● Type A: Normal curve – the result of
the proper middle ear functioning
● Type B: U-shaped – may suggest an
acute infection, such as an ear infection (otitis media).
● Type C: Negative pressure – used
when the patient is experiencing an early or resolving ear infection
● Type D/E: The association of
normograms with certain middle ear pathologies
